Can A Renovation Create a Happier Home?

It is common knowledge that remodeling a home can be an investment that is financially rewarding. What may not be common knowledge is that this investment in your home can translate into an overall feeling of happiness. According to a study by Houzz, well designed homes are the key to their owners’ happiness. In the survey, 87% of the more than 6,000 respondents said that their home design impacts their overall happiness.

When people think of synonyms for happiness some of the words that come to mind are joy, cheerfulness, and pleasure. We at House Redo have other words that come to mind as well such as light-filled, ordered, and serene.

Think Big Windows and Light Colors

Let’s look at these rooms and see if the new window and door locations actually accomplish this. Adding windows and increasing their size, painting lighter colors on the walls and ceilings, removing heavy paneling, all of these remodeling ideas help to brighten your home, and lighten your mood as well.

Declutter and Clean Out Spaces

Have you ever felt euphoric after decluttering a room? It happens often that cleaning the space you live in helps to clear the cobwebs inside your brain as well. Decluttering in a renovation often means creating spaces that help organize a families life. This could mean built ins at the front or back door, kitchens that provide additional cabinetry or creative redesign of a bathroom to increase that feeling of order.
